Survivor update clarification needed - Guild Wars Forums

I happened to see on a character that Survivor is once again listed as a title in progress, and reading the March 3rd update description has me confused.

In the new version, the title tracks the experience that characters gain until they die. In the event of their untimely passing, your title will maintain its current rank; to progress it further, you'll need to start over. For example, let's say that your character achieves the second rank of the Survivor title before dying. Your title-track progress will still display second rank as your current best. To achieve third rank, however, you'll be starting over again from zero experience. This lets you try again without throwing away a character that you've already put so much into. The amount of experience required to achieve the max rank of the Survivor title has not changed.

Question: If a character has not achieved even 1st rank in the Survivor title track before he/she dies, is his/her title progression frozen forever?

It seems to be saying that Survivor is now based on how much experience a character can gain BETWEEN DEATHS.

nope, you can die and after that you will gain xp...type /deaths and you will see 'you have died x times and have xyz xp since death' this is the amount of xp you have now towards your survivor title. If you die again, you will restart at 0 xp.
As you progress, you will see the title appear (if you have more xp since your highest xp since death) and increase....if you die alone the way, it wont increase until you have passed that amount again.

for example.
monk dies...does some quests...gets 10k xp....'you have died 1 times and gained 10,000xp since death'....it shows up in his H as 10,000 xp ...unfortunately he dies again...'you have died 2 times and gained 400xp since death' since 400 is not more than 10k, it wont show up on his survivor track, when he surpasses the 10k (without dying) it will progress......

It is basically like this: You work your way to xxx exp....you died.... xxx exp will be shown on the survivor bar... but you begin at 0 exp again. So lets say you have 400,000 exp and then you died. Your survivor exp became 0. But on the screen it will say 400,000. What you do is work back to 400,000 and then continue. So if you died again after.... well, you start over.

I farmed vaettirs for my r3 survivor over the weekend. Got to 1,250,000 and died. (error 7 sucks) I was like "lol, now i have to go buy more lightbringer scrolls". I had to start over at 0 again.

Fortunately, with Lightbringer scrolls you only have to do 31 vaettir runs to get rank 3, so it was easy to start over at 0 after I died.
